Christmas In Action Spartanburg is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency that, in partnership with the community, repairs homes of low-income, elderly, and/or disabled homeowners by putting Christian values and principles into action.
Founded in 1997, Christmas in Action Spartanburg coordinates the efforts of concerned individuals, businesses, churches, civic clubs, and other agencies in providing home maintenance for qualified homeowners who cannot afford to make the repairs themselves.
Christmas in Action leaders identify neighborhoods in need in the Spartanburg area and deliver applications to prospective candidates. The application poses questions that evaluate the financial and physical eligibility for Christmas in Action services. The qualified candidates are notified, and Christmas in Action then recruits and organizes construction and repair teams from area churches, businesses, civic groups, and other interested parties.
Each team focuses on fundamental home repair items like roofing, siding, porches, stairs, and more, and completes the construction and repair during one designated Rebuilding Day. There are two Rebuilding Days each year, one in April and the other in October. In addition to this, emergency repairs are completed year round for homeowners in dire need of assistance.
